Earache :(

Today I put my heat pads out on epla.no.

I think they are a brilliant idea because they were a life saver for ear ache. If you ever have had a child with chronic earache (acute otitis media) you will know the despair! And of course children susceptible to earache do not get it once but many times and there is only so so many times you want them to be on antibiotics. You may typically also experience that the pain arrives on Saturday night and the doctors don`t open till Monday morn. Well my mom was at her ear, nose and throat specialist. They were chatting about their grandchildren`s earache when the doctor recommended a natural remedy. He was quite blown away at it`s effectivity! Levisticum officinale

Weleda have it in two different concerntrations one for oral use and one as eardrops. Well we felt the eardrops work waaaay better! Warm the bottle to body temp. put a few drops in the ear and stuff with cotton wool and hold on a heat pad.  The heat pad soothes the pain. The drops drys up and soothes the ear drum and it works as a disinfectant too. It has been such a fantastic help for my daughter, and yet my local health store knew nothing of it, even though she sells Weleda products. Strange?

But isn`t funny when you are think of something, the theme comes up all over the show. I was reading a gardening blog where a lady was talking about her love of "løpstikke" which she considered and old fashioned herb in Norway only to discover it was what we would call lovage and has a host of fabulous qualities such as antibacterial and aiding the digestive system. I will be planting this herb in my garden this spring!

Daughters

Well my blog has been slightly neglected in the process of writing job applications. My worst thing on earth. They are difficult to write, as we are basically brought up not to brag of oneself. :) Anyway so my handcraft is on the shelf and seed catalogues forbidden till the next application is sent out!

BUT I do have something to say. You were introduced to my eldest who left for a new year at university, but I still have yet another daughter keeping me company at home. The awful thing tho` is she is growing at an awful rate! And as you probably understand not just in age but attitude :) An independent little soul.

My baby has left

Leaving school and starting your studies away from home is one of the most  exciting things to do in life. This is what I have to think about every time my baby leaves back to SA to carry on with her Bachelor of Fine Art. Firstly she is privileged to be so talented and we even more privileged to have her. After lazing in my couch for almost 2 months now. I know she is all loaded up to have the time of her life!

Streptocarpus

Such a brilliant little flower which has almost orchid status for me. Just before Christmas we had freezing temperatures in Oslo. One of my favorite shops www.mestergronn.no had this flower but I did not buy it in fear of it not surviving the trip home (-22 degree C that day) It has also the most amazing foliage which makes packing in really tricky! On a little hiking trip in a beautiful place called Nature`s Valley in the Eastern Cape I found this little gem growing on hard stoney ground right next to our path. It is just as exciting seeing it in it real habitat! I love the Eastern cape for exactly that reason!
